Niche Shell & Tube Heat Exchangers

Shell and tube heat exchangers are widely used in chemical-processing applications for heating, cooling, condensing and evaporating corrosive liquids and gases. They are a well-established heat exchanger design because they can be configured for a broad range of process duties, flow rates, temperatures and pressures. Unlike conventional shell and tube heat exchangers manufactured from metals, graphite or glass, Niche shell and tube heat exchangers use chemically inert fluoropolymer tubing to provide excellent resistance to corrosion, fouling and scaling. Niche is the original manufacturer of fluoropolymer heat exchangers and produces FEP, PFA and Q-Series tubing for demanding heat-transfer applications.

Fluoropolymer materials offer significant advantages in aggressive chemical environments. Metals can corrode when exposed to harsh process chemistries, increasing maintenance requirements and reducing reliability. Graphite and glass tubes can be vulnerable to cracking under thermal or mechanical shock, which may lead to leakage, unplanned downtime or equipment failure. Niche shell and tube heat exchangers incorporate braided fluoropolymer tube bundles, internal baffles and fused end constructions designed to maximise heat-transfer surface area within a compact footprint. This design supports efficient thermal performance, flexible installation and long service life while helping to minimise leakage risk and thermo-mechanical failure.
