Ferrofluids

Ferrofluids are colloidal liquids made of nanoscale ferromagnetic, or ferrimagnetic, particles suspended in a carrier fluid (usually an organic solvent or water), with each tiny particle thoroughly coated with a surfactant to inhibit clumping. Ferrofluids usually do not retain magnetization in the absence of an externally applied field and thus are often classified as "superparamagnets" rather than ferromagnets.

As an official distributor of Ferrotec ferrofluids, we can provide a wide range of fluids in various forms and volumes.

Applications

Electronic devices
Ferrofluids can be used to form liquid seals around the spinning drive shafts of motors found in a variety of devices, such as hard drives and servos.

Loudspeakers
Ferrofluids can be used in the production of audio speakers to remove heat from the voice coil and passibely dampen the movement of the cone.

Mechanical engineering
The friction-reducing capabilities of ferrofluids when applied to a strong magent (for example neodymium) can create materials with very low friction.

Materials science research
Ferrofluids can be used to create images of ferromagnetic materials using a range of techniques.
